      There are different ticketing schemes standard tickets and Smart cards, You can buy these ‘tickets’ or stored value smartcards, more popularly known as ez-link cards, at the TransitLink Ticket Offices or General Ticketing Machines (GTMs) located at every MRT station. Topping up the cards is just a tap away at any any Transitlink Ticket Office or GTM via cash or NETS. Minimum top-up value is S$10, and maximum is S$100.

  • Bus

    Singapore has an excellent public transport system comprising of the SBS Transit and SMRT. Riding a bus is an affordable way of getting around the city. Most buses are air-conditioned, and an extensive network connects all parts of the city.

      SBS Transit: Student can download the iris (Intelligent Route Information System) NextBus app on their smartphone and they can travel on their own. It tells you the exact bus arrival time estimation on a real time basis, and the Journey Planner provides bus travel solutions based on the cheapest fare, shortest walking distance or shortest travelling time.

      SMRT Bus Service: One can either use either cash or a stored value ez-link card available at TransitLink Ticket Offices located at selected SMRT stations. Standard value tickets for single trips may also be purchased from General Ticketing Machines (GTMs) located at all SMRT stations. It is equally efficient and convenient bus service with similar facilities as in SBS Transit.

  • Taxi

    Singapore is home to more than 40,000 taxies and they are available round the clock on streets or at designated taxi stands at most hotels, malls and public areas.

      Taxis are allowed to pick up and drop off passengers only at these taxi stands so trying to flag one down in the middle of a busy road, like tourists tend to do in other countries is not a good idea. Booking fees range from $3.30 to $4.50 and the starting meter charges range from $3.00 to $3.80. You can download applications like – Uber Cab, GrabTaxi, Trans Cabs, Comfort Cabs etc and you are set to go!
