Learn how to create visual content to communicate messages and kick-start your career in graphic design. This course has a large focus on industry. You’ll learn to master industry-specific software, critical design thinking, visual problem solving and authentic production techniques through a range of industry projects. You’ll work on real client projects with real companies like Water Corp, BMX Sports WA and the Cockburn Cougars. You will build a portfolio of digital, print and communication designs, which you can use to show your work to your future employers. You will also build career skills, such as working to a creative brief, developing a professional approach to client liaison and managing graphic design projects.
Articulation Pathway: Students who have qualified MAGES Diploma in Communication Design & Specialist Diploma in Motion Graphic Design are eligible to enrol into Year 2 of Bachelor of Creative Media (BCrMedia) in Graphic Design. Please enquire for other terms & conditions.
Take your passion for video games to the next level and develop the creative thinking and production skills that you need for a career in the games industry. In this course you’ll level up your knowledge of games art and design processes, production concepts and industry-standard tools and techniques. By creating games and mods you’ll learn about animation, 3D modelling, concept art, and designing for mobile and virtual reality platforms. This major allows you to explore different areas of specialisation to suit your dream career path, so you’ll learn what’s involved working as a: concept artist, games designer or technical artist.
While studying at Murdoch University, you will have access to some of the latest technologies and facilities including a dedicated games computer lab, VR headsets, green screen studio and interactive audio suites to help you bring your games to life. You will learn from academics who are international games production experts, including Simon Allen, who worked as an animator for Pixar, Jason Trevenen, who worked as a concept artist for Disney, and Brad Power, who was lead designer at the Perth studio of AAA developer Interzone Games.
Articulation Pathway: Students who have qualified a MAGES Advanced Diploma in Entertainment Design OR MAGES Advanced Diploma in Game Art OR MAGES Advanced Diploma in 3D Animation OR MAGES Advanced Diploma in VFX are eligible to enrol into Year 2 of Bachelor of Creative Media (BCrMedia)in Games Art and Design .
