With 83 game developers and publishers choosing Singapore as their base it’s evident that its local gaming market is on the cusp of a breakthrough. Apart from powerhouses like Ubisoft and Riot Games, local giants like gaming peripheral company Razer are expected to continue their dominance (earning US $448m in 2020H1 alone).
While Singapore is a good spot to set up shop, other markets in Southeast Asia are an option as well. To truly succeed in the region, each market’s unique opportunities must be identified and capitalized.
To top it all, we are seeing increasing more ways for games to be distributed. We have the more traditional platforms such as Steam, Origin and Battle.net and now the up and coming streaming services such as Apple Arcade, Google Stadia and Microsoft Azure.
