About UI/UX Course

MAGES Institute is proud to run its Professional Certificate in Product Management with UX Programme under IMDA’s Tech Immersion and Placement Program scheme. The Product management programme aims to cover the entire product life cycle, utilising core user-centric principles such as UI, UX design, while balancing the same with business objectives. Learners will master fundamentals of UI design, by applying design thinking methodologies with visual design principles. They will also cover the entire User Experience journey derived from user testing, research, and an iterative design method. Learners will go through the entire product lifecycle from design to prototype, culminating to a go-to-market strategy in a comprehensive manner, allowing them to become full-fledged Product managers satisfying all client-facing roles.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Become a Product Manager & UI/UX Designer in our 6-months immersive program (with career placement support)!

 

Concepts such as problem discovery, user persona research, crafting tailored experiences, conducting user tests and understanding visual design principles will be covered in our UI/UX modules. Students will then be exposed to stakeholder management strategies, product management principles and business strategy in our Product Management focused modules.

 

Showcase your newfound skills in a capstone project integrating design thinking methodologies with UI/UX and Product Management principles.

DURATION: 6 Months (Part-Time or Full-Time; full-time batches are subject to confirmation)

International Students are only offered Full-Time program.

STUDENT-TO-LECTURER RATIO: 18 Students : 1 Lecturer

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION / MODE OF ASSESSMENT: Practical (Hands on Application), Project Based Assessment

NOTE: A Pass in all Modules within the maximum study period is required for the successful completion of the program.

SOFTWARES TAUGHT: Figma | Figjam 

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS: Windows Laptop with 8GB RAM. Learners are to provide their own devices.

6 MONTH PROGRAM

FUNDAMENTALS

In their first term, students will learn the core concepts of design thinking for problem solving and apply it using visual design principles such as layout and colour theory in the form of user research, persona building, and user testing.

SKILLS

Students apply new obtained fundamentals to complete the design and execution of a product through its entire product lifecycle – enabling them to better understand the role of a Product Manager. They will acquire techniques for articulating production vision, setting objectives, creating a product roadmap, and learn effective communication strategies to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

The final term will have the students apply their knowledge to a practical project that achieves a real-world business objective. Students will create a comprehensive UI/UX design, mindful of user needs and business objectives, and develop a functional prototype with user testing and refinement. The module will conclude with a Capstone Project presentation demonstrating their ability to integrate UI/UX principles with effective product management strategies.

Rodney has been leading the multidisciplinary team as Founder, Strategist and Design Director at NextOfKin Creatives since 2008, which has served various Fortune 500 companies such as Dell, Techtronic Industries, Huawei, Kohler and HP. With almost 25 years of experience in the design industry, Rodney has worked on multiple projects for Creative and Philips Design (Singapore, Eindhoven, Hong Kong) before starting NextOfKin Creatives in 2008.

He has influenced industry standards as Vice President of the Usability Professionals Association (Singapore Chapter), and is personally passionate about Geriatic and Gerontology.

Rajesh’s research and hard work has made great strides in Augmented and Virtual Reality, as he intersects design, technology, and business through his many ventures in prototyping and education.

Esli operates at the boundaries of design’s tangibility. A steadfast industrial designer at heart, he is intrigued by the rapid paradigm shift from traditional to phygital approaches in service ecosystems. Through his work, he explores the delicate balance between the two. He views design as a strategic, scalable and multi-facted tool that spearheads forward beyond boundaries to uncover greater opportunities supported by it’s unique interdisciplinary & collaborative nature. Currently, Esli is an Experience Design and Strategy Consultant at IBM and Co-founder of Offcut Factory, recipient of the Good Design Research Grant from DesignSingapore Council.

Our Professional Certificate Program are designed for beginners, the first module (Fundamentals) is meant to cover any skill gaps before starting the core skills portion of the Program.

What are the hardware requirements for this Program? Will I have to purchase it myself?

The Professional Certificate in Product Management with UX program requires a Windows or Mac laptop.

 

As UI/UX Design at the individual level is not computationally intensive, a high-end laptop is not required. Please contact us for the updated Minimum and Recommended Specs for the Laptop
