Advanced Game Art Diploma

The Advanced Game Art Diploma Programme offers advanced training in industry techniques to create 3D modelling and 3D objects for gaming platforms and mobile devices. Students learn conceptual, story, character, and visual design aspects while developing marketable technical and aesthetic skills. The programme follows the standard workflow pipeline used in the industry for creating art assets for various video game platforms. Graduates have a vast toolkit of skills and a portfolio of work to showcase their abilities to employers.

Step into the dynamic world of game art with our 9-month Advanced Diploma program! Whether you’re passionate about crafting lifelike characters or building immersive virtual worlds, this program will equip you with advanced skills for success in the gaming and film industries.

 

Led by Industry Professionals and Unreal Authorized Trainers, this program balances foundational skills with cutting-edge techniques. Students will dive deep into advanced character creation and immersive world design, tailored for games and film. With a focus on creating graphics for diverse gaming platforms, mastering conceptual, narrative, character, and visual design principles. 

 

By following industry-standard workflow, students will be graduated with a robust skill set and a compelling portfolio of game art assets, ready to make the mark in the industry.

DURATION: 9 Months (Full-Time or Part-Time; part-time batches are subject to confirmation)

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS: Windows Laptop with a Minimum of i7 (13th Gen) Processor or Ryzen 7, 16 GB RAM (32 GB recommended), RTX 2060 or above, 500GB SSD (1TB recommended), Drawing Tablet (Wacom One recommended)

Advanced Diploma in Game Art Program Term 1 Artwork - Hard Surface Modelling

MODELLING

This term focuses on advanced 3D modeling techniques with Maya and ZBrush, covering simple to complex shapes for high-quality Hard Surface Models. It also includes character development, digital sculpture, and insights into theory, aesthetics, and 3D modeling techniques for interactive art in video games.

 

This term will cover the following modules:

  • Advanced Modeling- 1 Hard Surface Modeling
  • Advanced Modeling- 2 Organic Modeling
Skills Module Project - Environment - in Game Art Course

BUILD ON YOUR SKILLS

In this term students will delve into advanced textures, materials, and Look Development techniques, emphasizing real-time game engines. Students learn to craft materials, shaders, and lighting designs, exploring procedural modeling, animation, and dynamic effects for games. Additionally, they will be introduced to virtual reality and virtual environments via game engines, covering AR/VR, 3D Content Creation, and essential low-level programming and asset creation skills.

 

This term will cover the following modules:

  • Look Development for Games
  • Procedural Modeling and Animation
  • Virtual Environments
Portfolio Module in Game Art Course

PORTFOLIO

Students focus on game production and developing their final portfolio in this third term. They develop problem-solving skills and familiarise themselves with the entire asset creation process, from pre-production to completion. The term includes the Capstone Studio Module, where students integrate program concepts and skills, showcasing professional expertise for a successful career in the Digital Art industry.

 

This term will cover the following modules:

  • Game Production II
  • Portfolio
  • Capstone Studio Project

INSTRUCTORS

Justin is a Master's Degree holder in Game Arts and Design from University of Hertfordshire with 7 years of working experience in the Creative Industry as a CG/3D Artist. He has also worked on a wide repertoire of projects with international renowned brands such as Japan Digital Entertainment (SGames), SAF and other Singapore Government linked companies in making 3D assets. With a passion to teach, Justin aims to inspire future artists to explore and expand the horizons of what is possible.

Justin Ho

Lecturer

Rajesh Chakravarthy has worked in digital art and design for the past 18 years (stationed as an educator within various creative media and tech schools for 9 of those years) and is a veteran AR/VR developer and an Unreal Engine Authorised Instructor.  His leadership has led many students to successful careers within prominent companies around the globe. Rajesh’s research and hard work has made great strides in Augmented and Virtual Reality, as he intersects design, technology, and business through his many ventures in prototyping and education.

Alvin brings a wealth of expertise and teaching experience in the field of digital arts, with over 4 years of dedicated commitment to guiding students in their creative journeys. His extensive background as a Lead Modeller/3D Artist and Senior Lighter for studios, where he contributed to the production of short films and TV series, has honed his skills in delivering high-quality visual experiences.

Alvin Gan

Lecturer

Michal Kriukow is currently the 3D modeling supervisor at ILM which is also involved in look development and texturing, where he’s been working for over a decade. His strong foundation in fine art enabled his career with industry’s heavy hitters since his graduation eighteen years ago. He has worked on numerous big name projects such as The Mandalorian, Transformers Age of Extinction, Aquaman, The Avengers’ franchise, and Ready Player One; and specialises in 3D Concept Art, pipeline development and team management.
