Advance Diploma in Game Art

The Advanced Diploma in Game Arts expands on fundamental skills development with advanced training in techniques used in the industry today. With a primary focus on creating visuals for the screen, an advanced game art student will learn to create in-demand graphics for the latest gaming platforms/consoles as well as for mobile/portable devices. This program will provide a comprehensive study of conceptual, story, character, and visual design aspects. It will also focus on developing highly marketable technical and aesthetic skills as well as the ability to coordinate games development teams.

This program mirrors the standard workflow pipeline used in the industry for the production of art assets for multiple video game platforms, including web, console, PC, and mobile. Students graduate with a vast toolkit of skills and a body of work for their portfolios.


Duration :9 Months (3hrs per day; 5 Days per Week Full-Time, 3 Days per Week Part-Time) ; International Students are only offered Full-Time course.

9 Months Program

Term 1 Modeling

This term will involve Hard Surface Modeling (complex assets such as vehicles, Organic Modeling (character development), and Look Development for Games (generating materials, shaders, and lighting for use in real-time Game Engines).

Term 1: Modeling

In the first term of our 9-month program, students will aim at achieving high-detail, professional quality for quality game artistry. The focus is placed on both software modeling tools and artistic sculpturing talent that will be used throughout the entirety of their careers. By teaching the fundamentals of Game Art first, we set students up with valuable concepts and strategies that can be applied to all aspects of their work.

The program will cover the following modules:

  • Advanced Modeling-1 Hard Surface Modeling
  • Advanced Modeling- 2 Organic Modeling
Term 2 Advanced Skills

This term will focus on Procedural Modeling and Animation (analyse, design and implements procedural modeling pipelines and animating 3D objects and environments), and Virtual Environments in game engines.

Term 2: Advanced Skills

In the second term of the program, students will explore more complex forms of textures, materials, and look development techniques.. The Game Art Institute will provide lectures and hands-on applications for procedural modeling and animation techniques that allow animators to create environments of limitless complexity. Students will also proficiently develop virtual environments using Game Engines.

  • Look Development for Games
  • Procedural Modeling and Animation
  • Virtual Environments
Term 3 Portfolio

In the final term, under faculty supervision, student will review, revise, refine their previous deliverables under peer and faculty review, and build a portfolio to showcase mastery of industry standards.

Term 1: Portfolio

Students focus on Game Production and developing their final portfolio in the third term of the program. MAGES Game Art School prepares students for the next step in their careers by assembling polished works into a portfolio and instilling confidence that they have all of the tools and knowledge needed for a successful career in the Digital Arts.

Entry Requirements

Academic : MAGES Diploma in Game Art / Game Design / Animation / Concept Art or , Diploma in Game Design and Development / Game Design / Animation or relevant Diploma from Polytechnics or from other institutions.

English : IELTS 5.5 or Pass in English GCE ‘O’ Levels or equivalent

Age : 17 Years Old or above

(Mature Candidates above 30 years old require 8 years working experience)
