A Day of Student Presentations at MAGES ART
By Tonia Yau
The past few months has been a whirlwind for both students and staff as the new MAGES ART team headed by program director Kingston Chan integrates a reformed Entertainment Design and Game Art curriculum into our classrooms. As we wrap up the end of our academic year, students begin a week of industry preparation where they learn how to set up their online portfolios, engage with future clients, and most importantly hone the skills of professional level presentation. Here are some highlights from our Term 3 student’s final showcase.
Below are some beautiful designs from our Diploma of Entertainment Design student Michelle Guenther. In her Term 3 project Spirit Catcher, students were tasked to design the environment, props, characters, and in-game UI for a 2D side- scroller.
In-game visualisations of Spirit Catcher:
Production paintings and costume designs from Michelle’s second project, a live action film adaptation of Beauty and the Beast:
Lastly, Term 3 students were tasked to design characters and in-game assets for a cute themed mobile game:
Here’s a set of fun designs from Diploma of Entertainment Design graduating student Maya Fowler from her projects: a live action adaptation of Peter Pan, 2D side- scroller Runs Like Clockwork, and mobile game Witchy Tales!
We also had our students from Diploma of Game Art presenting their final projects. Please enjoy some of the intricate 3D modelled environments and Zbrush character work below from our graduating students Kenji Teo and Marc Tan:
