Advanced Game Art Diploma

The Advanced Game Art Diploma Program offers advanced training in industry techniques to create 3D modelling and 3D objects for gaming platforms and mobile devices. Students learn conceptual, story, character, and visual design aspects while developing marketable technical and aesthetic skills. The program follows the standard workflow pipeline used in the industry for creating art assets for various video game platforms. Graduates have a vast toolkit of skills and a portfolio of work to showcase their abilities to employers.

ADVANCED DIPLOMA OVERVIEW

DURATION : 9 Months (3hrs per day; 5 days a week Full-Time, 3 days a week Part-Time) ; International Students are only offered Full-Time course.

Term 01

MODELLING

In the first term of our 9-month program, students will aim at achieving high-detail, professional quality for quality game artistry. The focus is placed on both software modeling tools and artistic sculpturing talent that will be used throughout the entirety of their careers. By teaching the fundamentals of Game Art first, we set students up with valuable concepts and strategies that can be applied to all aspects of their work.

The program will cover the following modules:

  • Advanced Modeling- 1 Hard Surface Modeling
  • Advanced Modeling- 2 Organic Modeling
Skills Module Project - Environment - in Game Art Course

Term 02

BUILD ON YOUR SKILLS

In the second term of the program, students will explore more complex forms of textures, materials, and look development techniques.. The Game Art Institute will provide lectures and hands-on applications for procedural modeling and animation techniques that allow animators to create environments of limitless complexity. Students will also proficiently develop virtual environments using Game Engines.

Portfolio Module in Game Art Course

Term 03

PORTFOLIO

Students focus on Game Production and developing their final portfolio in the third term of the program. MAGES Game Art School prepares students for the next step in their careers by assembling polished works into a portfolio and instilling confidence that they have all of the tools and knowledge needed for a successful career in the Digital Arts.

INSTRUCTORS

Kingston Chan is a Concept Development Artist, Art Director, and Educator with over two decades of experience in games, movies, animation, and art production design. Kingston commenced his role as an educator in 2005 when he was invited to develop curriculums for game art, conceptual design, and digital painting at top schools in the field, eventually serving as Senior Art Director at FZD School of Design for the past 14 years. Previously, Kingston has worked extensively in Japan as a Game Artist at SEGA Co. and Koei Tecmo. Upon returning to Singapore, he was appointed as Art Lead at several local game companies to set up next gen 3D pipelines. Kingston believes in the importance of learning art fundamentals and design problem solving, especially in our world of everchanging technology. His broad industry expertise combined with a persistent curiosity in new technologies and work processes shows his dedication in advancing our next generation of artists and designers.

Justin is a Master's Degree holder in Game Arts and Design from University of Hertfordshire with 7 years of working experience in the Creative Industry as a CG/3D Artist. He has also worked on a wide repertoire of projects with international renowned brands such as Japan Digital Entertainment (SGames), SAF and other Singapore Government linked companies in making 3D assets. With a passion to teach, Justin aims to inspire future artists to explore and expand the horizons of what is possible.

Banya has worked since 1995 and is active in the education sector since 2005. Banya is extremely skillful and knowledgeable. He knows a lot of shortcuts and techniques from his years of being in this industry. His expertise is in 3D modeling, texturing & Animation: 3DS Max, Maya & Substance Painter, Digital Sculpting: Zbrush & Mudbox, CAD software: AutoCAD, Revit, Digital Painting & post-production: Photoshop, Post Production for Animation: AfterFX, Premier, Traditional 3D Sculpting, Traditional 2D Drawing & Painting.

Banya Tungprasert

Lecturer

Rajesh Chakravarthy has worked in digital art and design for the past 18 years (stationed as an educator within various creative media and tech schools for 9 of those years) and is a veteran AR/VR developer and an Unreal Engine Authorised Instructor.  His leadership has led many students to successful careers within prominent companies around the globe. Rajesh’s research and hard work has made great strides in Augmented and Virtual Reality, as he intersects design, technology, and business through his many ventures in prototyping and education.

Tonia is a Concept Artist and Educator. With a background in Architecture, she started out in Sydney working as a Scenic Artist and Set Designer for AFTRS, as well as an Architectural Designer at Practec Group. She moved to Singapore to pursue Concept Art and graduated from the FZD School of Design. With a passion for environment design and worldbuilding, she currently works as a concept artist and lecturer at MAGES Institute.

The Advanced Diploma Program is geared towards specialisation in the world of 3D modelling for games. Applicants are expected to have a background in 3D modelling and rendering. Knowledge of current industry-standard tools is an advantage. For more information, please contact us.
