DGA101: Game Design Principles

This module provides students with a theoretical and conceptual understanding of the field of game design, along with practical exposure to the process of creating a game. Topics covered include iteration, rapid prototyping, mechanics, dynamics, flow theory, the nature of fun, game balance, and user interface design.

Art fundamentals

DGA102: Art fundamentals

This module focuses on representation of three-dimensional forms in two- dimensional space. Focus on drawing one-, two-, and three-point linear perspective systems from observation and imagination. Students will also consider the structure and proportion of the human figure, towards the goal of creating character designs.

DGA103: Fundamentals of Game Art

This module introduces students to the skills required to create 3D Models in Industry Standard 3D Software efficiently. Students will learn different methods of modeling and texturing, and how to achieve good topology in a 3D model.

Under faculty supervision, students will review, revise, and refine previous deliverables based on peer and faculty evaluation, and create a portfolio that demonstrates a mastery of industry standards and expectations applicable to Game Industry. The student will present and discuss their portfolio of work to an audience/jury.

DGA105: Environment Modeling for Games

Students will learn techniques in digital art for designing interesting and memorable Environment Design. It also covers basics such as unique Environment studies, Realistic Textures and lighting techniques.

DGA106: Game Production I

This course focuses on performing successfully while managing all the variables of a final project. With continued faculty support, students gain new insights into the components of the production pipeline. This module introduces students to Game Art Projects, and is the start of the Live Studio Environment, where students are briefed, and work on separate Entertainment Design Projects.

Some institutions he has lectured in include, Career Education Corporation in Orlando, Florida and Brown College in Minneapolis, USA.

Mr. Khan has experience working in one of the biggest Internation Game Studios, Ubisoft publishing AAA game titles. Currently a Lead Artist at IGG, he specializes in creating high quality assets for game specialties: Skilled in 3d modeling, UV, texturing, 3d Digital sculpting, Character Illustrations, Game Pipeline Integration and Next Gen Game Pipelines. Khan started his journey with a Diploma in 3D Digital Design & Visual Effects from 3D Sense. He has worked on games like – Ghost Recon Online, Ghost Recon Phantom, Assassins Creed Origins and the latest, Skulls & Bones.

He has teaching experience in subjects like Games Programming at various Singaporean institutions.

Zaki brings with him more than 18 years of experience in various creative industries, from illustration to animation. Zaki has been a valuable addition to various companies such as Scrawl Studios and Chip & Toons taking up the responsibility of Animation Director in both places. In addition to his illustrious career, Zaki has also been published 5 times – with his latest comic, Badang, being a historical comic based on the Second World War in Singapore. Zaki completed his formal education with MAGES Institute of Excellence, graduating with a Diploma in Entertainment Design.

Fang is a 3D Artist with 5 Years of experience in the Games and Animation Industry, having modelled, textured, rigged & weighted Characters in a variety of styles. Her expertise has taken me outside of my realm and into a variety of roles, from World & Environment Art to Blend-Shapes & Animation, allowing her to adapt to many forms of 3D development while still maintaining a specialty. As a Team Lead for the project Gakusen Toshi Asteriks Festa, she mentored junior artists and involved in critique sessions.

  • 2 GCE ‘A’ level passes or minimum of 2 H2 level subjects with a pass or above
  • OR Foundation Certificate in Art and Technology from MAGES
  • OR Certificate in Art or Animation related course from other PEIs.
International Students
  • Equivalent to Year 12 from the respective home country of the applicant
  • OR Foundation Certificate in Art and Technology from MAGES
  • OR Certificate in Art or Animation related course from other PEIs.
Mature Students

At least 30 years of age, with 8 years of work experience.

2. English Proficiency

  • GCE ‘O’ Level English – Requires a minimum of C6 English grade
  • OR Pass interview with the Academic Director and assessment by Academic
International Students
  • IELTS 5.5
  • OR Other equivalent qualifications where the medium of instruction is English
  • OR Student may attend additional English classes and pass at the equivalent of upper intermediate level
Exemptions Approved

If student has achieved C6 in GCE ‘O’ Level or 65% in English in 10th Grade or IELTS 5.5 then student can be exempted from Modules FCAT101, FCAT102 and FCAT103.
